Maize productivity analysis in response to climate change under different nitrogen management strategies

چکیده

The evaluation of climatic change impact on maize grain and biomass yield under different N management practices through a well-calibrated validated APSIM model in Vertisol central India has been made. Climate scenarios were derived from seven global climate models (GCM) for two representative concentration pathways (RCPs), i.e. RCP4.5 RCP8.5, two-time slices, 2050 2080. five scenarios, namely N0%, N50%, N100%, N150%, 100% organic, studied scenarios. probability exceedance showed that organic treatments have 50% chance greater than 1.0, 3.40, 4.20, 4.45 3.84 t ha-1, respectively. average reduction was -44.4, -20, -19.7 - 17.9 22.5 per cent 0%, 50%, 100%, 150%, respectively over the baseline period (1980-2010). For 41.2, 21.2, 20.8 20.6 23.1 cent, Simulation results suggested higher decrease 100 inorganic is due to variability uptake.

Yield and nitrogen leaching in maize field under different nitrogen rates and partial root drying irrigation

Irrigation water is limiting for crop production in arid and semi-arid areas. Furthermore, excess nitrogen (N) application is a source of groundwater contamination. Partial root drying irrigation (PRD) can be used as water saving technique and a controlling measure of groundwater N contamination. The objectives of this investigation were to evaluate the effect of ordinary furrow irrigation (OFI...

Growing sensitivity of maize to water scarcity under climate change

Climate change can reduce crop yields and thereby threaten food security. The current measures used to adapt to climate change involve avoiding crops yield decrease, however, the limitations of such measures due to water and other resources scarcity have not been well understood. Here, we quantify how the sensitivity of maize to water availability has increased because of the shift toward longe...

Maize (Zea mays L.) Response to Nitrogen Fertilizer under Drought Stress at Vegetative and Reproductive Stages

In the sub-tropics, water and nitrogen are the most important factors limiting the grain yield of maize. The effect of nitrogen (N) rates and drought stress at different growth stages of maize were investigated. Nitrogen treatments consisted of 100, 150, and 200  kgN.ha-1 from the urea source while water stress treatments were composed of irrigation-off since the early 10-leaf stage to emergenc...

Maize response to different water, salinity and nitrogen levels: agronomic behavior

Soil water, salinity and nitrogen content are three major factors affecting crop production in arid and semi-arid areas. This study was performed in two years of 2009 and 2010 in a semi-arid area in order to investigate the effects of irrigation water quantity (as main plot), quality (saline water, as sub-plot), nitrogen fertilizer (as sub-sub plot) and their interactions on growth and yiel...

Impact of water and nitrogen management strategies on maize yield and water productivity indices under linear-move sprinkler irrigation

With uncertainty in future irrigation water availability and regulations on nutrient application amounts, experimentally determined effects of “controllable” management strategies such as nitrogen (N), water, and their combination on crop water productivity (CWP, also known as crop water use efficiency) and actual evapotranspiration (ETa) are essential. The effects of various N application rate...
